President Muhammadu Buhari is meeting with the Nigerian Governors Forum in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
The meeting is currently going on in the presidential villa and it is attended by most of the governors.PoliticsNGR has gathered that the meeting might be closely related to the balance of Paris/London loan refunds which governors have been seeking for.
It will be recalled that on October 17th, the governors met with Buhari asking him to approve the remaining 50 percent of the loan refund to them ahead of the 2018 budget.
Speaking to newsmen at the end of the October meeting, Abdulaziz Yari, the chairman of the governors’ forum and governor of Zamfara state, said that they reminded Buhari of his 2016 order that 50% of the money be paid to states first and the remaining balance paid after reconciliation.
Meanwhile, at today’s meeting, President Buhari directed the Ministers of Finance and Budget & National Planning and Governor of Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele, to commence negotiations with the Governors Forum to enable payment of outstanding Paris & London Club refunds, before the end of the year.
